Katy Perry and Russell Brand took the ultimate step in their whirlwind romance on Saturday (October 23): they got hitched in a grand ceremony in India. The couple headed back to the place where Brand popped the question early this year after dating for several months. Since then, in true Brand and Perry style, the duo packed in a spate of memorable moments as they prepared to hit the altar. Here’s a look back at some of the couple’s interesting public displays of affection as they headed toward superstar matrimony.

Before the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Brand hyped up his fiancé’s upcoming performance of “California Gurls,” referring to the pop princess’ latest offering as “her new, brilliant single.”

Later in June, the couple showed off their unique shared sense of humor when Brand dubbed Perry a “flatulence factory” during an interview. Perry fired back on Twitter, saying that Brand “light[s] up the sheets with [his] stanky arse.”

Perry arrived at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in September with decals of her hubby-to-be pressed on her nails. The manicure was a fitting tribute as the duo sparked their romance at the awards show the year before.

A month before the nuptials Brand got into a scuffle with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport when he felt the paps were trying to snap an up-skirt shot of his lady love. Perry later defended her man’s photog scrap, tweeting, “If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me. #standbyyourman #don’tf—withtheBrands.”

The paparazzi snafu didn’t stop Perry from hitting Las Vegas for a bachelorette bash a few days later thrown by celebrity bestie Rihanna. The affair included stops at a Cirque Du Soleil show and poolside antics.

A week before the big day, Brand said his ideal wedding would be set in “Victorian London,” but conceded that getting married in a bygone era wouldn’t be possible. The comic also denied rumors that he and Perry were already hitched but added, “Marriage takes place in the heart, so in that sense, we are already married.”

Earlier this week, the pop-culture couple touched down in Jaipur for their wedding celebrations. Members of Perry and Brand’s families were spotted around the city and on Tuesday the singer punched out what would be her last tweet as a single lady: “TWIT BREAK: Greatest gift u can give us is respect & [love] during this private X. No use wasting ur X w/ STOLEN or FALSE info. Thnk u for this.”

On Saturday, the pair officially became husband and wife in a ceremony surrounded by friends and family.

Sale benefiting the philanthropic social network Get Ur Good On begins later this month.

Miley Cyrus is cleaning out her closet — for a good cause.

She’s just announced plans to auction off her clothing and accessories on eBay. The proceeds will benefit Get Ur Good On, a social network aimed at connecting youth with volunteer and service opportunities in and around their communities.

“For me I get this amazing blessing and opportunity to do this every day and get up on stage and hopefully inspire people with my music,” Cyrus said in a video message posted on the Get Ur Good On site. “And that’s something that’s really important to me, but so is getting involved in charities.”

In recent months, it’s been Cyrus’ clothing (or lack thereof) that’s garnered most of the headlines. But the new auction is just the latest charity endeavor she’s undertaken with Youth Service America, the organization that runs Get Ur Good On. Earlier this summer, she served as a spokesperson for YSA’s “Blessings in a Backpack” mission, which provides weekend meals to children on free- or reduced-lunch programs.

“There’s amazing charities right here in America. You don’t have to travel 30 hours … you don’t have to give a billion dollars. It’s not about how much or how far, it’s about looking at your neighbors and seeing how you can help,” Cyrus said. “This isn’t just stuff that’s all over the world, it’s right here, it’s right next to you. It’s important to get involved.”

Cyrus’ Get Ur Good On auction is scheduled to begin later this month.

Lady Gaga has notched another milestone on her road to global pop-culture domination. The 24-year-old singer was recently named one of Forbes magazine’s World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list alongside CEOs, heads of state and media phenoms like herself.

Gaga took the #7 slot on the list, which was unveiled Wednesday (October 6), behind women such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and first lady Michelle Obama, who was named the most powerful woman on the planet (and is the first African-American to top the list). Gaga was the second-most powerful entertainer in the rankings, coming in behind Oprah, who clocked in at #3.

Other powerful ladies include Gaga’s “Telephone” collaborator Beyoncé (#9), talk-show host and former “American Idol” judge Ellen DeGeneres (#10), author and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (#16) and screen siren and activist Angelina Jolie (#21). Gaga is no novice when it comes to Forbes shout-outs. In June, she debuted at #4 on the magazine’s 2010 Celebrity Power List, due to her cash-magnet Monster Ball Tour, $62 million in earnings, Web popularity and deals with companies such as Polaroid and MAC. B was bumped two spots to #2 after raking in $86 million from her world tour, arsenal of endorsement deals and House of Deréon products. Oprah has been a Forbes mainstay, coming in at #1 this year on the Celebrity Power List after ceding the crown to Angelina Jolie the year before. The mogul snatched the top spot back with a nine-figure payday and media conglomerate that includes TV shows, magazines and more.

Perhaps Gaga will wield her hefty worldwide clout to push for her causes. A longtime gay-rights supporter, the entertainer has most recently waged a campaign for the repeal of the U.S. Armed Forces’ polarizing “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

‘But I think the girl’s doing all right without me,’ country-music legend says of the teen star.

Miley Cyrus has a country star watching over her, and it’s not just dear ol’ dad (and “Hannah Montana” co-star) Billy Ray Cyrus. Country legend Dolly Parton says she’s also looking out for the teen queen.

“I’m her fairy godmother,” Parton told The Associated Press.

The “Can’t Be Tamed” singer and the blond icon joined forces in May for a duet — a rendition of Parton’s 1973 hit single “Jolene” — during a celebration of Dollywood, the singer’s namesake Shangri-La. Parton showed the teen superstar some love after performing with her for the Hallmark Channel special taped earlier this year, commemorating 25 years of the Tennessee theme park.

Miley has been getting some heat lately for what her critics say is an increasingly sexed-up image, a budding persona at odds with the inoffensive sass of the Disney series that launched the teen to stardom. However, Parton, who has built a decades-long career and entertainment empire blending sweet, down-home wholesomeness with bubbly, busty sex appeal, maintains that Cyrus is headed in the right direction.

“I’m just real proud of her,” Parton said. “She does not need my advice, but she’s often asking for information and advice, and I tell her what I know, but I think the girl’s doing all right without me.”

In addition to the Miley/Dolly duet, the special will feature performances from Kenny Rogers and Billy Ray, who has known Parton since he first burst onto the scene in the early ’90s with his mega-hit “Achy Breaky Heart.” Parton said the tribute show thoroughly represents the successful amusement park.

“There are a lot of wonderful things,” she said. “It shows the park really great, and the audience and all the people that work here, so we’ve really covered it in every respect.”

‘I want to try to get Tom Cruise to play him,’ Stiller says of flick about ‘Tropic Thunder’ producer.

After delighting his adoring public at the MTV Movie Awards earlier this year, Les Grossman is set to return to the big screen with Grossman’s celeb fans and possible co-stars have already confirmed their excitement for the upcoming flick, but it’s been awhile since we’ve had an update.

Enter Grossman’s “Tropic Thunder” co-star, “good friend” and mastermind Ben Stiller. When MTV News caught up with the busy man at the “Megamind” press day (Stiller produced the film and has a small role in it), we asked him for some Les Grossman movie scoop.

“Les Grossman is notoriously difficult to negotiate with, so we’re right now negotiating with him because he wants to play himself in the film,” Stiller revealed. “And he’s kind of a bully, and he’s very argumentative, and he’s a little bit abusive.

“I want to try to get Tom Cruise to play him,” Stiller added. “So if I can get Tom Cruise, who’s interested to play him, if Les will agree not to play himself, then it looks like it could be coming together. A script is being written now.”

In addition to Grossman’s assistant (played by Bill Hader) scoring a role, what other “Tropic Thunder” characters might make an appearance?

“There’ll probably be a few, actually, ’cause he’s really instrumental in all of their careers,” Stiller said. “He’s really the puppet master. And there’s going to be a really strong hip-hop element to the movie, as you might guess.”

The funnyman went on to say that the film will likely feature a slew of celeb cameos. “Les … can compel you to do something if he wants you to do it, so he’ll probably be making calls himself,” Stiller said.

And will this seminal piece of cinema be a biopic of sort?

“It is,” Stiller admitted. “It kind of has a little bit of a ‘What Makes Sammy Run,’ sort of. ‘Where did this guy come from? How did he become the force of nature or terror that he is?’ ”

The star power at the upcoming American Music Awards just got kicked up a notch — or 20. In addition to the previously announced performance from Christina Aguilera, the November 21 show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles will feature the debut AMA appearances from three of music’s hottest young stars.

Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Ke$ha will all perform at the show alongside a roster of veteran acts including Bon Jovi, Pink and Usher. Fittingly, all three newbies are also nominated for Artist of the Year, a category that features heavy-hitters Eminem and Lady Gaga as well. Em and Lady Antebellum lead all nominees with five apiece.

“As a small-town kid from Canada, I never imagined that I would be nominated for AMAs, let alone be performing on the show,” Bieber said, according to The Associated Press, which added that the 16-year-old professed to feel “extremely humbled and honored” by the invitation to play the show.

More presenters and performers will be announced in coming weeks.

“Justin, Katy and Ke$ha have been on the top of the charts all year long. We are happy to see each of them make their own AMA history,” AMA producer Larry Klein said in a statement announcing the additions. Bieber is nominated in four categories overall, while Ke$ha and Perry are up for three awards.

Winners will be determined by online voting at AMA.ABC.com.

No matter which way you slice it, the night of August 9 is likely to be a big one for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” With final nominations announced on Monday (July 12), the teen vampire drama leads all nominees at the Teen Choice Awards 2010 with 17 nods total, including 11 for Taylor Lautner.

Among the new nominees for the Katy Perry-hosted show revealed on Monday (July 12) were: Justin Bieber, B.o.B, Taio Cruz, Drake and Eminem in Choice Summer Music Star Male, with Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Perry and Rihanna all nominated in the female category.

As for Choice Summer Song, it will be Gaga (“Alejandro”) against B.o.B with Hayley Williams (“Airplanes”), Travie McCoy with Bruno Mars (“Billionaire”), Perry again with Snoop Dogg (“California Gurls”) and Ke$ha (“Your Love Is My Drug”).

The Choice Summer Movie race has major firepower, with a battle brewing between “The A-Team,” “Despicable Me,” “Grown Ups,” “Inception,” “The Karate Kid,” “Knight and Day,” “The Last Airbender,” “Salt,” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” Male movie stars vying for the prize include: Zac Efron in “Charlie St. Cloud,” Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Adam Sandler in “Grown Ups” and Jaden Smith in “The Karate Kid,” while the female category will focus on Cameron Diaz in “Knight and Day,” Selena Gomez in “Ramona and Beezus,” Angelina Jolie in “Salt,” Emma Roberts in “Twelve” and Kristen Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

With “Eclipse” leading all nominees followed by Miley Cyrus and “Glee” with 13 each, the Teen Choice Awards will be handed out by Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Logan Lerman, Zachary Levi, Ryan Sheckler and Yvonne Strahovski, who join previously announced presenters David Archuleta, Kristen Bell, John Cena, Miranda Cosgrove, Zac Efron, Victoria Justice, Jim Parsons and Shailene Woodley.

Nominations were also announced in the following categories: Choice Summer TV show (which includes bids for “Make It or Break It,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “So You Think You Can Dance”), Choice Male Summer TV Star (with “American Teenager” stars Ken Baumann and Daren Kagasoff earning nominations alongside “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer) and Choice Female Summer TV Star (with Nikki Blonksy of “Huge” going up against “True Blood” heroine Anna Paquin and “Teenager” star Shailene Woodley).

‘She knows exactly what she wants to do,’ Ne-Yo says of Bey’s Sasha Fierce follow-up.

Beyoncé may have killed off Sasha Fierce for her next album, but that doesn’t mean that whatever she turns out won’t be just as, dare we say, fierce as her previous effort. And Ne-Yo, who reveals he is working with the megastar on the follow-up to 2008′s I Am … Sasha Fierce, says that it’s easy-peasy working with Bey, mostly because she knows exactly what she wants.

“The thing about working with Beyoncé is that she definitely has her own agenda,” the “Irreplaceable” songwriter told MTV News about the hush-hush song (or songs) the pair worked on together. “She’s an artist that knows exactly what she wants to do.”

So how does it go down when you walk into a studio to find Beyoncé sitting there ready to work? “She’s going to give you directions [like] ‘Here’s where I’m going, so here’s where I need you to be,’ ” Ne-Yo explained. “And, you know, I’m a person that follows direction well. [And she'll be like], ‘So this is the sound, this is the vibe; make it happen.’ And I write and she likes it or she doesn’t. And in this case she did, and there you have it.”

Producer Sean Garrett, who wrote Beyoncé hits including “Video Phone” and “Upgrade U,” promised Popeater.com that Bey’s fourth album is “going to be her biggest album ever. We’re going to take it to a whole other level.” He told EW.com, “I think we are doing a lot of uptempo records for this one. She’s in such a good place right now in life that she is interested in making party music, definitely.”

Additionally, producer Jim Jonsin reveals that he has been submitting some tracks and angling to get in the studio to work with Beyoncé on the forthcoming album, noting that he wants to go retro for the record. “I’d like to take it even more Depeche Mode-ish, like ’80s electro with just some hard drums,” the “Beautiful Nightmare” producer told Rap-Up. “I’d love to go there.”

James Cameron and co. have given us hints about the return to Pandora for the second and third movies.

The voyage from Earth to Pandora takes about six years. It looks like James Cameron will only need five to return to “Avatar.” The writer/director has officially set up two “Avatar” sequels as his next projects, with the first arriving in December 2014 and the second opening in December 2015.

“[W]e will not back off the throttle of ‘Avatar’s’ visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters,” Cameron said in a statement on Wednesday morning (October 27).

Themes and characters, you say? Well, that’s not terribly revealing at all. Thankfully, Cameron and his cohorts have previously spilled details about what we can expect from the upcoming installments of “Avatar.” Here’s everything we know so far about the sequels.

Exploring Oceans and Other Planets
We got a taste of Pandora’s marine world when Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully plunged down a waterfall, but the plot took place almost exclusively on the ground and in the air. According to Cameron, “Avatar 2″ will plunge into Pandora’s oceans.

“Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment — a different setting within Pandora,” he said. “And I’m going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rainforest.”

Cameron later told MTV News that he plans to film footage underwater to capture what will become Pandora’s oceans. “I think what we should do there is — because we’ll have to have characters that are in and under the water — is that we should actually capture them underwater,” Cameron told MTV News. “It’s not the same as going diving, but I like to keep my diving, which I do for pleasure, separate from work.”

While “Avatar” focused strictly on Pandora, an alien moon, “Avatar 3″ will likely begin to explore other planets. “We created a broad canvas for the environment of film,” Cameron has said. “That’s not just on Pandora, but throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And we expand out across that system [in subsequent films] and incorporate more into the story — not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film.”

Jake and Neytiri — and Maybe Grace — Return
At the end of “Avatar,” Jake ends up abandoning his human body and transferring his consciousness to his Na’vi avatar, allowing him finally to be truly together with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). The next two films will continue to tell their story.

“We’ll follow Jake and Neytiri,” Cameron told us.

Who else will return? Sigourney Weaver’s character, scientist Grace Augustine, appeared to die toward the end of the film. But Weaver has said we shouldn’t assume Grace won’t pop up in some form in the sequels.

“It’s always a mistake in science fiction to make these judgments on the dead,” Weaver told MTV News “You didn’t really see her die. What you saw was … something happen. I think that [James Cameron] wants all of this to be a surprise, but don’t buy the funeral wreath quite yet.”

The Development Process So Far
In his statement, Cameron announced he will begin writing the sequels early next year. We already know he’s got a hefty head start on the process. He’s written hundreds of pages of notes about where the story will go.

“I have a trilogy-scaled arc of story right now, but I haven’t really put any serious work into writing a script,” he told us in December 2009.

And just because the scripts have not been finished does not mean preproduction cannot begin. They’ll begin work on creature and environment development “as soon as Jim locks in on some of those notes,” producer Jon Landau explained to us. “We don’t have to wait for a script for that. And there are also certain things we designed from the last movie that didn’t make it in that I’m sure will make it in on the next movie.”
