Louisiana rapper pleaded guilty to drug-smuggling charges.

Lil Boosie has been incarcerated since June 2010, awaiting trial for a murder charge. On Tuesday (November 29), the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native (born Torrence Hatch) pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiring to smuggle drugs into prison and was sentenced to eight years behind bars.
Local TV station WFAB reports that District Judge Mike Erwin passed down the sentence after Boosie admitted that he tried to smuggle drugs into Louisiana’s Dixon Correctional Center and Angola State Penitentiary. Upon hearing his sentence, the 29-year-old rapper requested admittance to a drug rehab program, and while the judge agreed to recommend treatment, he wouldn’t order it. Boosie will receive credit for the time he has already served behind bars.
Last June, Boosie pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution, three counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and three counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
The first-degree murder charge stemmed from the October 2009 death of Terry Boyd. Boosie is accused of paying hit men to kill the 35-year-old man and, if convicted, he may face the death penalty. During Boosie’s stint behind bars, the East Baton Rouge DA’s office also began to build another case against Boosie, trying to link him to five additional murders.
During a prison interview in May, the Trill Entertainment rapper told XXL magazine he was being unfairly targeted by the justice system. “[I'm here] ’cause of the songs I made, before I was indicted, about the police in Baton Rouge and what’s going on here,” he said. “There’s a lot with our record label that the system don’t like. … They took my hard drive out of my house after I got arrested. I have albums for days in there. They still haven’t returned it. They’ve had it for damn near a year now. I need that music.”

Billy Ray Cyrus announces on ‘The View’ that he and Tish have decided to work things out.

After announcing their split last year Billy Ray Cyrus now says that he and his wife of 17 years, Tish, have decided to reconcile.
“I dropped the divorce,” Miley Cyrus’ dad told the hosts of “The View” during a pre-taped appearance on the show airing Friday, according to USA Today. “I wanted to put my family back together.”
Cyrus, who appeared on the show to promote his new album, I’m an American, out in June, said he and his family are working out their problems.
“Communication I think is one of the biggest problems that we as human beings have in this whole world,” he said. “And I think for the first time me and my entire family are finally communicating with each other in a way that, it’s been quite some time … and to answer your question, things are really the best they’ve ever been.”
Cyrus also seemed to retract the statements he made in a GQ interview, in which he said that his and Miley’s hit Disney series “Hannah Montana” “destroyed” their family.
“I feel like I kind of got my Miley back in a way,” he said. “I feel like we are the daddy and the daughter that we were before ‘Hannah Montana’ happened. I love ‘Hannah Montana.’ I love Disney. That didn’t tear my family apart.”
The country singer did, however, say that fame had something to do with the family’s troubles. “Now fame, fame is a different animal, you’ve got to be careful with that thing because it can … all things considered, hey, it’s all good.”

‘He’s a great actor,’ director David Cronenberg tells MTV News. ‘It’s obvious in the movie.’

The infamous birth scene in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ may have drawn comparisons to the work of director David Cronenberg, but star Robert Pattinson got to work with the auteur for real in the upcoming “Cosmopolis,” an adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo.
The role represents a dynamic shift from the character fans around the world know Pattinson for, Edward Cullen, but Cronenberg, when he spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, explained that the choice was nothing more than the normal casting process.
“You start with the basics. How old is he? What does he look like? Is the character very nerdy? Is he handsome and devilish?” Cronenberg said. “Is he an intellectual? You think about all these things and you think about the actors who could possibly project the things that you need from this character.”
Once Cronenberg had a list of potential candidates for the “Ulysses”-inspired protagonist, Eric Packer, it is important to consider a star’s profile in order to get the proper funding for the film. Cronenberg said that it takes an actor with a name like Pattinson to get his movies made.
After judging Pattinson’s interest in the project and working around his schedule, it was clear to Cronenberg that he was the man for the job. “Ultimately, I felt he was the guy. Once again, intuition,” he said. “I saw his movies, including ones maybe his Twi-Hard fans don’t know about, like ‘Little Ashes.’ Maybe they saw ‘Remember Me,’ I’m not sure.”
As for Pattinson’s “Twilight” reputation, it’s something Cronenberg acknowledges. “I can’t pretend that I’m not aware of that. This is an unusual jump for him. He said it himself. It’s scary,” Cronenberg said, adding that it’s the scary part of it that makes it worthwhile. “It’s a scary thing because he’s never really had to carry a movie quite that way before, totally on his own,” he said. “He’s in every scene. He’s almost in every shot, so scary for him, but for an actor, scary is good. You don’t want to be bored. You don’t want to be too confident.”
The question that will be on everyone’s minds who goes to see the film may ultimately be, “Can the ‘Twilight’ kid actually act?” Cronenberg was quick to cast any doubt aside. “Really, he’s fantastic. He’s sensational,” he said. “Really, I’m telling you. He’s a great actor. It’s obvious in the movie. It’s not like maybe yes, maybe no. It’s obvious.”
